The Akzo Nobel Aesthetic Centre

The Aesthetic Centre was created to be the centre of expertise on colour in the Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings organization.

Coatings or paints have many important chemical and technical aspects, but it is becoming increasingly clear that it is the aesthetic qualities of the product
that influence selection. That is why the aesthetic centres continuously focuses on the aesthetic properties of paint.

These activities can be split into four main tasks:

Research in colour.
Research into colours of the past, as a part of the cultural heritage, or research in colours of the future. Colour as part of trends or future developments.
Exchange of colour knowlege.
The Aesthetic Centre shares knowledge of colour and colour expertise with Architects, Painters, Project Developers, Students, Wholesalers and End Users. This takes place at specialised workshops, seminars and guest lectures.
Colour and product design.
Paint is not just paint anymore, there are so many possibilities for new structures, effects and new product qualities. Not only new colours but also new products and concepts are designed.
Much time is spent in creating the right colour collection for the right target group. Both for the retail market and for the trade market, special colour collections are created for different countries and different target groups, always in close consultation with local experts.

Communication.
Colour is widely enjoyed as an extra dimension in life.
Many people want to know more about colour. By showing and presenting the possibities of colour in paint we also like to bring colour closer to the people. This is often done via the media in magazines, TV and the internet.

The Akzo Nobel Aesthetic Centre is formed by a team of four specialists in Holland and two in Sweden.
